Outsourcing

Many content organizations today are not taking full advantage of the revenue opportunities from clip and still licensing. Doing so means investment in technology and human capital that so often is allocated to more core business functions. RightsLine has helped organizations like this by completely outsourcing the clip licensing function. RightsLine handles taking all the content and establishing a searchable web presence, managing the requests, and defining the unique approval policies for your organization. Our solution provides full transparency through on demand reporting, and includes an intensive workflow engine to handle exceptions or items that require special permission.

Through outsourcing, we can promise:

  • Greater Revenue
  • Increased Volume
  • Peace of mind, knowing your assets are working as hard as they could be

Configuration

The RightsLine Platform has been constructed to be implemented primarily through configuration of all different modules.

The configuration of the system does not require any new coding and allows for an accelerated implementation timeline.

  • RightsLine provides industry templates for assets for (Film, Television, Images, Audio / Music, Publishing, Patents, and many others).
  • Asset types allow for a unique and unlimited set of metadata to be associated to different types of assets (Image vs. Music)
  • There is no limit to the amount of metadata associated with RightsLine objects

In addition to the asset configuration, we provide configuration templates around the following objects:

  • Contacts
  • Rights (Media, Territory, Language, Term Dates, exclusivity, etc)
  • Workflow
    • Set of actions or triggers as a result of business activities
  • Reporting

Customization

In some instances, RightsLine may not be able to handle your organizations specific requirements. In these cases, the RightsLine product offers two methods to customize the application while ensuring it remains upgradable and maintainable for the long term:

  • Use of API’s and Web-services
    • Many customizations include integrations or specific display requirements. In these cases, RightsLine offers a robust set of API’s that can be used to pull data or modify the display of the data or application.
  • User exits
    • In order to accommodate implementation specific code that needs to be triggered, we have included user exits within the workflow module. These user exits can be used to make data changes, call external applications, or perform any other tasks.

Business Processes and Best Practices

In order to achieve the most success from the implementation of the RightsLine product, the initial definition of the business process and how RightsLine fits into that process is critical. In order to expedite this process, RightsLine brings a set of best practices around rights and asset management that span basic master data management through to streamlining online licensing. RightsLine or RightsLine’s partners typically work with our clients to document the current business process, and then re-engineer it so that it works with the new system.
